The all-female W Series has declared British Jamie Chadwick as a champion and ended the season, while three races were remaining in the US and Mexico, which were canceled for financial reasons. It was the third win in a row for Jamie Chadwick in the third season.
The series had been stopped due to support Formula One at the US Grand Prix in Texas. At the end of the month, the W series was going to end its season with two races at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Catherine Bond Muir, CEO & founder of the W Series, said due to recent unforeseen circumstances outside of W Series’ control, we had not been in receipt of contracted funds. She said, therefore, we have been forced to make the unfortunate decision not to complete our scheduled calendar this season.
Catherine said that she remained positive about the long-term future of the series and wanted to remain on the Formula One support program.
Catherine said we have just had to call it because there are deadlines on payments and things that need to be done, and we just had to make a pragmatic call today.
Catherine said going forward, the big message is that I am extremely confident that W Series will be here next year.
After seven races, Chadwick was at the top of the standings and 50 points ahead of her Dutch rival Beitske Visser, and because of that, she won the 2022 W series title.
